'Remarkable theaters': West Virginia Historic Theatre Trail adds four new stops

The Preservation Alliance of West Virginia has included four historic theaters to the West Virginia Historic Theatre Trail, signifying a vibrant cultural update for towns like Shepherdstown, Clarksburg, and Bluefield. The Shepherdstown Opera House, which opened in 1910, has a rich history of Vaudeville performances, transitioning to cinema and stage acts. Clarksburg's Robinson Grand Performing Arts Center, inaugurated in 1913, became one of the first in the nation to adopt audio technology for movies, while Bluefield's Granada Theater, originating in the late 1920s, continues to host films and live music. This initiative not only enriches local heritage but also reinforces the significance of these venues in community gatherings and cultural events, as highlighted by the Charleston Gazette-Mail.
