Amid the ongoing federal government shutdown, Governor Patrick Morrisey announced that the National Parks in West Virginia, including the notable Harpers Ferry, will remain operational thanks to a donation agreement that restores services at the New River Gorge and Harpers Ferry. Visitor centers, which closed at the start of the shutdown, are expected to reopen soon. The state Department of Tourism has collaborated with the governor's office to ensure that these parks remain accessible, inviting residents and visitors alike to explore the natural beauty of the region, particularly in historic towns like Harpers Ferry and Charles Town.
